Scavenger Hunt Sunday and Scripture & A Snapshot - February 26 - March 3, 2012

Hi, everyone! Wow! Is it really March already? Spring is coming up and we totally missed the ONLY snow this winter in Virginia. Today I saw several squirrels and lots of robins in our yard.

I missed the last two weeks of SHS and Scripture & A Snapshot. We were traveling. This week, I was lacking inspiration so I decided to used my phone for this week's items. iPhone photos are also edited on the iPhone. Here they are:

1. Routine
Monday- Thursday afternoon routine for my boys - homework!
SHS-2012Feb26-Mar3routineedit

2. Music
We sang this song in church this Sunday.

3. Technology
Aren't smartphones such amazing technology? You can play games on it (like what these three boys are doing), take pictures, edit pictures, and much, much more.

4. Show Me Your Style
Selfie - two weeks ago. This is the only shot for SHS this week that's not taken with my phone. I saw a shot similar to this on Pinterest and decided to copy it. I think it was an advertisement for a belt.

5. Mismatch
My cross trainer and my running shoe.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday and Scripture & Snapshot - February 5-11, 2012

It is time for SHS and S&S post again? Where did my week go? Well... I spent a lot of it working out, eating well, and spending time with God. I welcome this "down time" for things I enjoy doing other than taking pictures.

Here are my finds this week.

1. Facial Feature
This kid is mine. Everyone says he looks just like me. Can you see the resemblance on our facial features?
APAD11|12-Day163

This selfie is my first doing a face-front with no make-up; just lipstick. I was home all day and didn't want to do something to my face just for a selfie shot. :) This is for week 27.

2. Shadow
My view one morning this week. I love the "emotions" in the clouds and the shadows on the ground. Shot through the kitchen window. You can see the screen's texture on the picture.

3. Spicy
My husband fixed this really spicy chicken. It was good but it was a-kickin'!

4. Gold

5. Fabric
The only scarf I own. Must buy another one... or two.

And here's my submission for Scripture and a Snapshot. I love this promise from God's Word!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - January 29 - February 4, 2012

I couldn't believe it! This week in Virginia, we had two warm days - warm enough for sleeveless shirts and flip-flops! 65ºF!!! I was loving it but my boys are longing for snow days. We have yet to see snow this winter season. Did the ground hog see his shadow the other day? I didn't even keep up with that. Ha!

Here are my SHS items this week.

1. Strike a Pose
The weather was so nice, I just had to take a selfie outside in sleeveless and flip-flops.
SP11|12-Wk26

And I want to add this fun photo:

2. Footware
This was from November 2011. I think this is my favorite selfie, by far! I made this as the cover of my photo book that I gave away as Christmas gifts.

3. Hobby

4. Shiny

5. Color Me Green
Since I had to slice the lime for this photo, I just had to make limeade. It was so yummy!

Scripture and a Snapshot submission. I love this verse. Such a great reminder for me.

HAVE A GREAT WEEK, PHOTO FRIENDS!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - January 22-28, 2012

It's been a good week. I was very good with eating well and doing my work outs. On Monday, I took my boys on a special dinner treat - gourmet ice cream and popcorn. They loved that. I got showered with hugs and kisses the rest of the week. I have sweet boys.

Here's my SHS items this week:

1. Smile
Reading a book makes me smile. Self-portrait. I am now on my 25th week of this year-long project. Half-way mark!
SP11|12-Wk25

2. Stand Alone
This was taken with my iPhone. I didn't have my big camera with me. We drive by this house when we go to the gym. The sun and the colors were just perfect, I just had to take a picture. Added a Kim Klassen texture to make it look like a picture on canvas and to mask the pixels a little bit.

3. Rusty or Something Old
Chandelier in a restaurant where I shot an event.

4. Artificial
Mouse on my computer. :)

5. Repeating Pattern
Paper cup for my cupcake

And this one's for the Scripture and a Snapshot link. This is a decor in our house.

Good to Wow "Orange" Sooc and a Selfie

I have been out of the loop and out of all the photo challenges I was in for about four months now. I miss them but schedule has been so crazy. In fact, we are now on day 12 of our 15-day trek to our supporting churches (we're missionaries on furlough). And more travel to come. So... I'm going to try to slowly start back into those challenges.

Here's my sooc shot for the Good to Wow (Shoot & Edit) "Orange" theme that Jill and Ashley host each week. This was part of the decoration at a church we are in this week.
Good to Wow - soon "Orange"

Over two months ago I started a once a week, one whole year Self-Portrait project as my first 365 Photos project was coming to an end. Here's my Week 9 shot. Click on these links to see shots from other weeks: Weeks 1-5, Weeks 6-8. To all my photo blogging friends... where can I participate in self-portrait projects/challenges? I've been out of the loop.

Travel, Travel, Travel and Wedding Preview

Been on the road a lot. Living out of a suitcase. I hate not being in the comfort of my own home but yet I love seeing new places and hanging out with friends along the way. Weird, huh? I contradict myself. Hahaha! One positive thing about being in the car for hours on with my husband driving is I'm able to do some photo processing on the computer.

I enjoy shooting with my new D7000 but I still miss my 70-300mm lens from my D50, so I took some shots with the old and faithful a couple days ago. Love the sharpness and the vividness of the colors.

Here are my shots for Weeks 6-8 for my self-portrait project. Click HERE to see my shots for Weeks 1-5. Don't forget to scroll all the way down for three wedding shots.

Week 8
My favorite season is here! Yes, I'm an Indy Colts fan. This picture was taken just 5 minutes from the Colts training stadium.SP11|12 - Week 8

Last month I had the privilege to co-shoot the wedding with one of my favorite newborn and family photographers, Beth Simmons. The mother of the bride is also a photog friend. I've known the bride since she was 11 years old so it was very special for me to be part of the wedding. Here are three teaser shots until I'm able to work on the other ones.

I Am Back to the Blogging World!

I took a three-month break from blogging my photography for three reasons:
1) We flew back to the US for our missionary furlough and I was just way too jet lagged to keep up with blogging. (Half-way around the world trip could do funny stuff to one's equilibrium and ability to think straight. Hahaha!)
2) Our days were literally filled with so many things for missionary training. I had not much time to edit photos.
3) Been hanging out with friends and we've been traveling. Sometimes, internet access was not available.

With that said, I did finish my "A Photo A Day" project which ended on August 25th. My husband and I celebrated the day by going to Red Lobster for dinner. It was strange not taking any pictures for the project after that day so.... I'm doing another "A Photo A Day" project for another year! And.... I also started a self-portrait projects. Here are my shots:

Week 1
I think this is a great way to start - my family! Had to take this photo for our new missionary prayer card.SP11|12 Week 1

Week 3
This week I got to borrow and play with my friend's D300 with her 50mm lens. Love the lens!

Week 4
Yes, I love to take pictures of random things. :)

Week 5
This was taken with my NEW camera, D7000, as a surprise advance birthday gift from my sweet husband!!! My hubby rocks! My D50 is more than five years old, well-used, and dying but still works.

I have a feeling this little boy is going to be in a lot of my self-portrait shots because he WANTS to be in it. I don't mind a bit. :) Love this cute kid!SP11|12 Week 5 (1)
